Communication Strategist (Water Business Group)
Join HDR as a Communication Strategist in the Water Business Group. We are a company dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where everyone is valued and respected, empowering innovation in managing water for communities worldwide.
In this role you will develop content marketing strategies, lead communications plans, collaborate with cross‑functional partners, create and edit white papers, blogs, social media posts, collateral and presentations, and support event management. You will bring creative ideas and communicate thought leadership for our initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Develop content marketing strategies and communications plans for specific initiatives and projects.
- Lead global and local communications strategies with internal partners and creative teams.
- Assist in building and managing an editorial calendar.
- Create white papers, feature articles, and social media content with subject‑matter experts.
- Ghost‑write and edit blogs, posts, papers, and presentations.
- Develop collateral pieces and other marketing campaign materials.
- Write and edit project narratives and case studies.
- Research industry best practices and maintain a repository of trends.
- Support event management when required.
- Bring genuine, creative ideas to the table.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field.
- Previous consulting and/or creative agency experience.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a communications field (social media, event planning, community engagement, marketing, writing, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self‑motivated and able to work independently with multiple teams.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive outlook.
- High aptitude for managing and solving tactical issues.
- Commitment to being an active participant in an employee‑owned culture.
- Comfortable working with senior leaders and managing cross‑functional efforts.
- Capability to operate strategically and tactically in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Expected compensation range: $48,699 – $92,760, depending on skills, experience, education, and location.
