Communication Strategist (Water Business Group)

In the Water Business Group, you will help shape how communities manage water for generations to come, from delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable supplies and protecting lives through flood control.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content marketing strategies and communications plans for specific initiatives and projects to elevate thought leadership.
  • Lead global and local communications strategies by collaborating with business partners, creatives, marketing and communications teams.
  • Assist in the development and management of an editorial calendar.
  • Work with subject matter experts to develop and write white papers, feature articles, thought‑leadership pieces, and social media posts.
  • Ghost‑write and edit blogs, social media posts, papers, and presentations by subject matter experts.
  • Create collateral and other marketing campaign materials.
  • Research, write, and edit project narratives and case studies.
  • Monitor industry best practices and maintain a repository of trends and examples.
  • Support event management when required.
  • Bring genuine, creative ideas to the table.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field.
  • Previous consulting and/or creative agency experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a communications role (social media, event planning, community engagement, target marketing, descriptive writing, public involvement, etc.).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently with multiple teams, as well as collaboratively.
  • Great interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • High aptitude for managing and solving tactical issues.
  • Commitment to an employee‑owned culture.
  • Comfortable working with senior leaders and managing cross‑functional efforts.
  • Strategic and tactical operational experience in a high‑energy, fast‑paced environment.
  • Committed to quality, continuous improvement, and HDR values.
  • Proficient in Adobe InDesign.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Expected compensation for this position ranges from $48,699 to $92,760 depending on skills, experience, education, and location.
