Job Description
Manages the day‑to‑day operations of a small or medium‑sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
- Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium‑sized department or program.
- Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
- Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
- May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
- Reviews reports of budgets and activities.
- Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
- May administer grants and grant‑related communications, scholarships and other operations.
- Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
- May serve as property custodian for the department.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge is normally obtained through a formal, directly job‑related 4‑year degree from a college or university, or an equivalent in‑depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: No experience required.
Preferred Experience: 1–3 years of job‑related experience.

The position will support the department marketing and events and operational areas that engage students, faculty, staff, employers, alumni and marketing/communications, including, but not limited to:
- Events, Engagement and Programs – organize events, large workshops, presentations, and programs from start to finish (e.g., career fairs, industry panels, headshots, student employment luncheons, awards, alumni socials, information sessions); engage with student organizations, alumni and employers.
- Marketing and Communications – manages social media and department website content creation, deployment, and engagement; interviews, writes, edits, and disseminates news releases and other articles to highlight faculty, staff, students, alumni, and employer achievements and department events and programs; develop graphic designs for electronic and print media. Coordinate ordering marketing and promotional items with UCS staff for various events. Lead departmental internal marketing and communication committee; supervise Marketing intern.
- Other duties as assigned.
Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience and experience in lieu of education.
- Preferred candidates will have experience or familiarity with graphic design software such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or InDesign; social media and related engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate concurrent work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational, problem‑solving and customer service skills; keen attention to detail; proficiency in Microsoft 365.
