Manager, Content Optimization
Bleacher Report, a Warner Bros. Discovery company, is looking for a dynamic, detail‑oriented manager to shape the future of automated content delivery and personalization strategies for millions of sports fans. The role is responsible for ensuring the right mix of articles, highlights, and social updates reach fans in real time—through automated feeds, video ingestion, and personalization algorithms. The manager will serve as the connective tissue between programming, product, engineering, external content sources, and data‑science/AI partners to create the most engaging and habit‑forming sports feeds in the industry.
Role Accountabilities
- Content Systems & Automation
- Own the ingestion, QA, and maintenance of RSS feeds, APIs, and external sources to ensure relevant, accurate, and timely sports news flows into the app.
- Partner with video ingestion providers to manage highlight and clip pipelines, ensuring high‑quality, rights‑approved video content lands in the right streams.
- Ensure ingestion of scores and stats works properly across leagues and teams.
- Select, evaluate, and integrate new external content sources (sites, tweets, league feeds, blogs) to broaden fan engagement.
- Partner with Product to send B/R content to external partners like Apple News.
- AI and Data‑Science Collaboration
- Partner with AI and data‑science teams to refine personalization models and explore emerging technologies in content optimization.
- Define business rules to balance algorithmic personalization with editorial priorities (e.g., local team relevance, breaking news, playoff storylines).
- Monitor algorithm output and ensure the right content mix reaches the right fans at the right time.
- Manage and optimize automated push alerts based on personalized rules.
- Programming & Editorial Curation
- Collaborate with programming and sports leads to shape the narrative of feeds—making sure the app feels fresh, timely, and tuned to what fans care about most.
- Ensure feeds update in real time during live events to highlight trending plays, breaking stories, and social content.
- Create workflows for combining automated feeds and human judgment for optimal fan experience.
- Analytics & Optimization
- Collaborate with Analytics to track performance metrics (time spent, CTR, return visits, video views) and optimize feed logic accordingly.
- Run experiments (A/B tests, feature prioritization, algorithm adjustments) to continuously optimize feed engagement.
- Partner with product managers to evaluate and integrate new automation tools or personalization features.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in sports media, programming, or content operations.
- Hands‑on familiarity with RSS feeds, APIs, CMS tools, and content ingestion systems.
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with data‑driven personalization (bonus: SQL, Looker, Tableau).
- Understanding of recommendation systems, personalization algorithms, or ML models (collaborative role, not building models directly).
- Comfortable working at the intersection of programming, product, data science, and engineering.
- Passionate about sports and knowledgeable about how fans consume content across formats.
