About the Job

We are looking for a Design Associate to join our menswear fashion design team. The Design Associate applies both theoretical and practical knowledge of menswear design to help the team create concepts and push forward new designs, fabrications, and colors for each season’s collections.

What You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities

  • Conduct market research to identify key silhouettes, fabrics, colors, and seasonal initiatives relative to our customers
  • Adhere to seasonal time and action calendars; collaborate with cross‑functional partners to resolve issues and elevate concerns
  • Approve lab dips and other development items; work with fabric and trim departments to provide clear feedback
  • Define product details (materials, trims, and details) that align with the design roadmap
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—product development, fabric and trim, technical design, production, and buying—to create synergy and smooth operations
  • Create, submit, and update tech packs
  • Assist Design Director in seasonal brand development and presentations, tracking necessary adjustments
  • Maintain a sketch library with additions or adjustments as needed
  • Ensure timely handoff to meet calendar deadlines
  • Coordinate seasonal sample requests with product development
  • Prepare and edit swatch boards and other presentation materials
  • Create and maintain all seasonal books with brand‑specific lab dips and developments
  • Prepare swatches for buyers
  • Create and update seasonal digital decks
  • Input information into PLM, where necessary

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in fashion design, fashion merchandising/marketing, or related field
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of design experience
  • Specialized knowledge in men’s fashion, merchandising, and technical design
  • Experience in garment construction, trims, fabrics, performance features, finish, and fit
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
  • Ability to adjust priorities to meet deadlines with a sense of urgency
  • Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks accurately and within deadlines
  • Demonstrated creative abilities and fashion awareness
  • Analytical and strategic thinking given competing interests and strict deadlines
  • Technical sketching ability (flat and illustration); proficiency in Illustrator, PLM, Photoshop, and Excel
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week from the New York office with long hours as necessary

Work Environment, Physical & Mental Demands

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Requires visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination, and manual dexterity needed to operate a computer and office equipment
  • Hours: 40 hours per week

Compensation

The starting rate for this position is $70,000 – $96,600 and may increase to $117,000 depending on merit, length of service, and other factors. Base pay is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws.
