Managing Editor

Utah Business is the leading business story platform for executives and entrepreneurs in Utah. Our print and digital products feature award-winning journalism covering the industries at the forefront of Utah's economy. Our business events recognize the top business leaders in the state.

Utah Business seeks a Managing Editor who can write, edit, and manage digital and print content calendars. Our ideal candidate is highly organized and has a strong background in journalism, SEO, writing/editing and content management systems. Strong candidates are self‑motivated, able to meet deadlines, and thrive in fast‑paced, hybrid work environment.

Job Qualifications

• Able to manage and maintain an online content calendar and daily posting schedule
• Working understanding of and admiration for Utah’s business sectors
• Comfortable with publishing on social platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook
• Basic knowledge of evolving SEO best practices
• Basic knowledge of analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Chartbeat
• Familiar with MailChimp other email platforms
• Proficient in AP Style and general copyediting
• Familiar with posting/scheduling articles for online publication

Job Requirements

• Manage the digital, print, content marketing, and special publication content calendars
• Maintain digital and print deadlines with writers, editors and photographers
• Lead the SEO strategy for utahbusiness.com (all articles posted to Utah Business should be optimized to follow our '8 Elements of a Digital Story')
• Publish articles on utahbusiness.com every day
• Add final Utah Business style guide grammar/spelling edits to articles before scheduling
• Contribute to social media content creation and strategy
• Provide digital clients with monthly analytics on their digital ads and content campaigns
• Monitor Google Analytics and Chartbeat for website trends, ad analytics and page view surges on utahbusiness.com
• Maintain relationships with contracted contributors
• Work from our Salt Lake City offices 2-3 days per week
• Attend and assist with Utah Business events
