Senior Editor, NBC Select
NBC News Digital is looking for a senior commerce editor to help shape and grow the commerce editorial strategy for NBC Select, the online shopping destination under NBC News. The senior commerce editor will oversee and refine Select’s affiliate content across key verticals, helping readers make smarter and more responsible purchasing decisions through authoritative, well‑sourced, and data‑driven stories. This role will have an elevated focus on franchise and content ownership — including managing high‑impact series such as the 100 Best series and Talking Shop — and ensuring consistent editorial excellence and brand voice across these key initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage key commerce franchises, including the 100 Best series and Talking Shop, ensuring each aligns with editorial, performance, and brand goals
- Assign, edit, and produce high‑quality commerce stories that blend data, reporting, and expert sourcing
- Mentor and manage freelancers and support junior editors or writers with feedback, training, and editorial direction
- Contribute to and maintain editorial calendars, balancing evergreen updates with timely, news‑driven opportunities
- Develop and refine content strategy around SEO insights, affiliate data, and seasonal shopping trends
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with social, audience, and SEO teams to optimize story performance and discoverability
- Edit and elevate voice and tone across commerce content, ensuring consistency and clarity while aligning with NBC Select’s standards
- Analyze and iterate on performance metrics to inform future coverage and franchise development
- Represent the commerce team in cross‑departmental meetings and brainstorming sessions
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of editorial experience, including at least 3 years in commerce or service journalism
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of relevant working experience
- Proven ability to edit and manage freelancers or junior editors
- Experience working for a major media or news brand preferred
- Exceptional editing, writing, and story‑shaping skills with a strong command of AP Style
- Deep understanding of affiliate marketing platforms (Amazon Associates, Skimlinks, Rakuten, Impact, CJ, ShareASale, etc.)
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and using analytics to inform content decisions
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex research or expert insights into clear, actionable consumer guidance
- Strong project management and communication skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities
- Creative thinker with the ability to identify new editorial opportunities and franchise growth areas
Additional Requirements
- Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, which currently requires contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Beginning January 5, 2026, hybrid employees will be required to work from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in‑office requirements at any time.

Salary range: $95,000 – $115,000
