Experience Graphic Designer

Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of what’s possible.

We are seeking a full‑time Experience Graphic Designer responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and producing high‑quality print and digital graphics for experiences and exhibitions at Space Center Houston. This includes creating production‑ready files for both physical and digital displays that align with the organization’s brand guidelines.

  • Creative attractive and engaging presentations (both internal and external) that clearly communicate design ideas and concepts.
  • Produce visually compelling, production‑ready graphics for current and upcoming exhibits. Requires strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop), InDesign, PowerPoint, and other layout and publishing tools.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external partners to deliver materials and assets that effectively communicate our experiential interpretive goals.
  • Give accurate project timeline projections, acquire approvals, and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects and priorities using project‑management systems.
  • Maintain quality control and carry projects through to execution, including acquiring bids, file setup, sending artwork to press, and final proofs.
  • Utilize the organization’s resources effectively by obtaining multiple bids from vendors and recommending the most qualified and cost‑efficient options.
  • Research and stay current with graphic‑design marketing and public relations trends and share information with director and team.
  • Become a subject matter expert on our branded PowerPoint template and provide training and guidance to internal users.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and processes for graphic design, logo, and brand standards.
  • Serve key internal department client(s) with communications needs by developing creative briefs and strategic communication plans.
  • Support the work of, and collaborate with, other Communications Team members.
  • Use communication skills to influence, guide, and motivate stakeholders internally and externally.

  • Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in visual arts and applied design, graphic design, graphic arts, marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of professional experience in graphic design and production.
  • Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator and Photoshop; knowledge of HTML and CSS required; preferred experience with CMS editing (WordPress), Java.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with Microsoft Windows‑based computers.
  • Advanced knowledge of branding and its application in marketing and public relations.
  • Expert knowledge of graphic design best practices and principles for print, web, social media, and other digital projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, proofing accuracy, and problem‑solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism, energy, enthusiasm, and collaboration; ability to give and accept constructive criticism.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities independently and with a team.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including some weekends and/or nights.
  • Photography, videography, and video editing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with an agency is a plus.
