Responsibilities

  • Perform on‑air Multimedia Journalist responsibilities for designated Telemundo Las Vegas – KBLR newscasts or program across KBLR’s multiple platforms
  • Contribute story ideas for key series pieces for daily news program, digital & social media platforms
  • Prepare, assemble, and present story content in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner
  • Collaborate with news producers and managers to conceptualize, produce and present Telemundo Las Vegas KBLR news specials and packages
  • Generate story ideas, research, set up content and interviews, edit packages and report new stories from the field
  • Develop and maintain a network of news sources providing exclusive local stories
  • Leverage community relationships to cultivate story leads and support community relations initiatives
  • Participate in station‑sponsored and tentpole events
  • Perform field reporting, fill‑in for other shows, and other temporary assignments as needed
  • Participate in editorial meetings, proofread scripts and work closely with newscast producers, executive producers
  • Assist producers with enterprise news investigations, building a strong list of story ideas year‑round
  • Make phone calls to set up interviews, including outside of regular working hours
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, ready to work 24/7 shifts, long hours, weekends, and holidays on short notice
  • Write stories, headlines, and news updates for television, online and digital platforms
  • Operate video camera and recording equipment, live U or Dejero, and edit with Adobe Premiere Pro or other provided editing system
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and take direction from assignment desk, producers, MMJs, anchors, and production control room personnel
  • Maintain technical equipment including cameras and lighting gear
  • Manage project deadlines and deliverables
  • Adhere to NBC – Telemundo News Standards and Guidelines
  • Follow NBC – Telemundo Social Media Policies and Standards

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Journalism / Communications
  • Minimum of 3 years television anchor/reporter experience
  • Excellent Spanish & English writing skills and very strong verbal skills
  • Competent as Multimedia Journalist with excellent camera and editing skills
  • Ability to ad‑lib effortlessly in various types of situations
  • Strong live reporting skills
  • Ability to work under the pressure of intense deadlines
  • Team player in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to participate in community, public events and/or serve as Master of Ceremonies as requested

  • 18 years or older
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization

  • BA or BS in Journalism, Communications or Political Science preferred
  • General Assignment reporting skills preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to present scripts with clarity and energy
  • Proven record of meeting deadlines and developing contacts
  • Proven record of contributing story ideas
  • History of newsroom leadership and working well with news staff
