Music Teacher (Piano / Instrumental) – Private Music Studio

Part-Time | $30–$40/hr | Flexible Schedule | Paid Training

Location: In-person – [Lake Forest and Aliso Viejo, CA]

About the Position

We are a growing, well-established private music studio in Southern California seeking a reliable, student-focused Music Teacher to join our teaching team. This role is ideal for musicians who enjoy working with children and teens, value structured pedagogy, and want a steady stream of students without administrative stress.

Instructors teach one-on-one private lessons and may work with beginners through early advanced students depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach private music lessons to students ages 5–18 (beginners to intermediate/early advanced)
  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons aligned with student goals
  • Prepare students for recitals, evaluations, and optional exams (ABRSM / RCM / MTAC)
  • Track student progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Communicate professionally with parents regarding student development
  • Follow studio teaching guidelines while maintaining your own teaching style
  • Participate in paid training and periodic team meetings

Ideal Candidate

  • Has prior experience teaching children or teens (private lessons, schools, studios, or camps)
  • Demonstrates strong fundamentals in technique, musicianship, and music theory
  • Can adapt lessons to different learning styles and age groups
  • Is reliable, communicative, and open to feedback
  • Enjoys working within a team-oriented studio environment

Qualifications (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or related field
  • Conservatory or university music training
  • Familiarity with structured pedagogy and exam systems
  • Background in early childhood education is a plus

Additional artistic skills (dance, photography, early childhood development, etc.) are welcome but not required.

Compensation & Benefits
