Inside Higher Ed is recruiting an Adjunct Faculty, Music to teach music courses at Lone Star College – Kingwood, TX. Job ID: 43633. This is a part‑time position, 5 contact hours per semester, moderate to busy teaching load. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s curriculum, assessment and student support.

Essential Job Functions

  • Teach music courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them of progress in a timely manner
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork, facilitation style
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people
  • Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies
  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service and dynamic learning environment
  • Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology
  • Ability to engage students in their learning

Physical Abilities

The work is sedentary. The employee sits comfortably to do the work and may walk, stand, bend, carry light items, or drive an automobile. No special physical demands are required.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Work will be performed in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab environment
  • Hours will vary depending on class time; instructors are required to meet with students outside of class instruction

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in music or master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in music

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $55.44 per contact hour.
