Summary
Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course-by-course basis throughout an academic year.
We are looking to fill the Adjunct positions listed below:
- Adjunct Instructor of Voice
- Adjunct Instructor of String Methods
- Adjunct Instructor of Trombone/Euphonium
- Adjunct Instructor of Mariachi
Duties & Responsibilities
- Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on‑campus, off‑campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.
- Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
- Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments.
- Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
- Assist/mentor students as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Master’s degree in Music.
- Experience: One or more years of collegiate teaching experience.
- Knowledge / Skills: Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to: Multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: None.
- Physical Requirements: None.
- Other Requirements: None.
Preferred Education / Skills/ Experience
- Doctor of Musical Arts, PhD in Music Education or related degree/field.
- Special consideration will be granted to candidates who hold a degree in trombone or euphonium performance, vocal performance, or music education with a foundation in string methods/pedagogy.
- Special consideration will be granted to candidates who have successful experience with mariachi ensembles.
- College or university teaching experience.
- Evidence of teaching excellence.
- Prior relevant industry experience.
