Job Summary

The Music Department is currently seeking a Temporary Music Studio Manager to join their team of professionals. The Music Studio Lab Manager oversees the daily operations, technical resources, and student support within the university's music production and recording facilities. This role ensures that the studio is a dynamic, safe, and innovative environment for learning, research, and creative projects. The manager serves as the primary point of contact for faculty, students, and guest artists, balancing technical expertise with educational support.

Duties Include

  • Oversee daily operations of the studio, ensuring spaces are functional, safe, and accessible.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair studio equipment (e.g., computers, instruments, cameras, audio/visual gear, lab tools).
  • Manage inventory of supplies, materials, and consumables; order replacements as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and university regulations.
  • Coordinate with IT and facilities teams for technical and maintenance needs.
  • Provide technical assistance and training for students and faculty using studio equipment and software.
  • Assist in course, rehearsal, or research project setup, including preparing workstations and reserving spaces.
  • Offer one‑on‑one or group orientations to ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and software.
  • Serve as a point of contact for troubleshooting and operational questions.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in music technology, audio engineering, sound design, or a closely related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience managing or working in a recording studio, music lab, or audio production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and troubleshoot audio equipment and computer systems.
