Conservatory Lab Charter School, a unique charter school in Massachusetts, seeks a dedicated music teaching assistant to join the 2026‑2027 school year. Responsibilities
- Partner with the lead teacher to create an optimal learning environment for students.
- Work as a co‑teacher/teaching assistant within the classroom.
- Implement the lead teacher’s lesson plans for violin, viola, and cello students, and mixed string ensembles.
- Plan and deliver curriculum in collaboration with grade‑level music teachers.
- Create and implement music‑integrated classroom projects with curriculum developers and classroom teachers.
- Track student progress and interventions using approved systems.
- Supervise student groups as assigned.
- Support students in transitions and maintain instrument inventory.
- Maintain clean, organized teaching spaces.
- Comply with all professional development requirements.
- Attend faculty meetings, scheduled staff events, and concerts as needed.
- Assist with administrative duties including arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess.
- Use feedback to reflect on and improve instructional practices.
- Substitute for classroom teachers during meetings, professional development, or other needed times.
- Demonstrate a commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.
Required Qualifications
- At least 2 years of college education.
- Extensive string experience, especially cello.
- Experience working with children.
- Ability to collaborate closely with a professional team.
- Confidentiality and strong oral communication skills.
- Flexibility to work in a fast‑paced, highly demanding environment.
- Full‑time, on‑site availability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Bilingual – Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
