Conservatory Lab Charter School, a unique charter school in Massachusetts, seeks a dedicated music teaching assistant to join the 2026‑2027 school year. Responsibilities

  • Partner with the lead teacher to create an optimal learning environment for students.
  • Work as a co‑teacher/teaching assistant within the classroom.
  • Implement the lead teacher’s lesson plans for violin, viola, and cello students, and mixed string ensembles.
  • Plan and deliver curriculum in collaboration with grade‑level music teachers.
  • Create and implement music‑integrated classroom projects with curriculum developers and classroom teachers.
  • Track student progress and interventions using approved systems.
  • Supervise student groups as assigned.
  • Support students in transitions and maintain instrument inventory.
  • Maintain clean, organized teaching spaces.
  • Comply with all professional development requirements.
  • Attend faculty meetings, scheduled staff events, and concerts as needed.
  • Assist with administrative duties including arrival, dismissal, lunch, and recess.
  • Use feedback to reflect on and improve instructional practices.
  • Substitute for classroom teachers during meetings, professional development, or other needed times.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of college education.
  • Extensive string experience, especially cello.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with a professional team.
  • Confidentiality and strong oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast‑paced, highly demanding environment.
  • Full‑time, on‑site availability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Bilingual – Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole.
  • Salary commensurate with experience.
