Job Summary
KWTX seeks an innovative newscast producer to join News 10 This Morning, the number one morning newscast in Central Texas. We look for a producer who lives for urgent, relevant coverage of what is new, now, and next, and excels in breaking news and weather. As the number one station in the market, you will have the latest resources to create a show that resonates with viewers. You will join a team of exceptional journalists committed to our community and to making it better—both on and off camera. Strong planning and communication skills are a must.
Responsibilities
- Research, write, and edit daily content for television and web platforms
- Produce a quality, accurate show that resonates with key demographics
- Co‑produce morning newscasts that are updated throughout the morning, both on‑air and for live‑streaming platforms
- Identify the day's most important stories and source materials relevant to your audience
- Work with management and staff to generate stories and content
- Meet daily deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Plan and time the show to meet ratings goals
- Exhibit a strong work ethic, people skills, teamwork, and a professional attitude at all times
- Work weekends and may require holiday work
Qualifications
- 1 year of previous news experience
- Ability to edit video, write scripts, and communicate effectively
- Flexibility to schedule around the changing news landscape
- Degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Familiarity with non‑linear editing, TVU, Sony ENG, and social media
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
