Job Summary

WECT seeks a driven, creative news producer who works well with a team of talented professionals to create compelling newscasts. Excellent news judgment, superb writing skills, and a knack for showcasing stories for the viewer are key. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with creative writing skills who can handle deadlines while juggling planning, producing, and occasional digital responsibilities.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Produce live newscasts daily
  • Select stories and determine story order
  • Write broadcast and digital scripts
  • Communicate with anchors, assignment desk, reporters, photographers, editors, and others to ensure execution of a high‑quality newscast

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Experience as a producer preferred but not required
  • Ability to work at a high level under tight deadlines
  • Scheduling flexibility
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent writing, showcasing, communication, and time management skills required
  • ENPS experience/knowledge preferred but not required
