Job Overview

Global Green will carry out this initiative through its established community-based programs and national operational framework to strengthen anti-poverty, climate-resilient housing and community development efforts in New Orleans, with a focus on the Lower Ninth Ward. Global Green continues to operate through partnerships, team coordination, and field-based engagement. This program addresses root causes of poverty by increasing organizational capacity to secure resources, strengthen systems, and expand access to safe, affordable, and sustainable housing; youth literacy and education initiatives; workforce-connected arts and cultural programming; and climate disaster preparedness. These efforts reduce barriers faced by low-income residents by improving housing stability, educational access, and long-term economic opportunity. The program emphasizes capacity building and indirect service, focusing on strengthening communications, outreach, and resource development systems that support program sustainability and growth. Global Green will elevate community voices, document outcomes, and expand partnerships to increase public awareness and investment in community-led solutions. Global Green will engage local residents, homeowner representatives, and professional staff through structured advisory and community engagement processes to ensure that initiatives remain community-driven and equitable. The organization will also coordinate assessments and planning efforts to inform strategic decision-making and communications. Anticipated outcomes include increased organizational capacity, expanded partnerships, improved visibility of anti-poverty initiatives, and the development of replicable best practices in affordable housing, renewable energy integration, youth education, and climate resilience. These practices will be shared nationally to support poverty alleviation efforts beyond the VISTA service year.

Member Duties

The AmeriCorps VISTA member supports Global Green’s Marketing and Public Relations efforts by working with the Director of Business Development and the Chief Executive Officer to strengthen communications systems by designing internal communications systems, messaging frameworks, content standards, and style guides for staff use. The VISTA will assist with creating internal social media planning tools, content calendars, engagement metrics dashboards, and documentation for staff implementation that align Global Green’s national programs, developing internal website governance tools, update workflows, and content management protocols for staff. The member will support creating internal fundraising and partnership support tools (e.g., messaging libraries, proposal templates, tracking systems) without executing outreach, ensuring all public-facing communications, media engagement, social media posting, fundraising outreach, and partnership engagement are explicitly assigned to staff.
