Talent Groups is hiring: Senior Microsoft .NET Web Developer in Madison

Our client seeks to hire two Senior Microsoft .NET Web Developer positions to design, develop, test, implement and maintain solutions and features for applications in the Microsoft .NET environment, while also designing and implementing Oracle database components to support those applications. The developer will provide reliable, responsive support for these projects and systems, including new development, enhancements, and support for existing applications as prioritized by the client. This role requires approximately 40 hours per week and involves working on multiple initiatives to develop new applications and redesign legacy applications to meet current business needs with supported technologies.

Hybrid Details: onsite 2 days per week
Duration: 5 months to start

1. Must have proven work experience with application development, user interface development for custom applications and database design and development.
2. Collaborate closely with team members and the Application Architect Lead to develop application solutions, create development plans, and ensure effective integration among information systems and the IT infrastructure.
3. Understand interactions between applications and services within the environment, and evaluate the impact of changes or additions.
4. Stay abreast of technological advancements to continuously improve and align solutions with industry and client standards, as well as emerging business requirements.
5. Translate user and process requirements into high‑quality deliverables, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
6. Take initiative and own tasks or products, demonstrating excellent communication, time management, listening, collaboration, problem‑solving, and adaptability.

Skillsets

• Advanced level application development skillsets including Analysis and Development within Microsoft .Net Framework.
• Coding experience in .Net framework, MVC including C#, JavaScript and Bootstrap.

Environment

Our client has a large number of .NET custom applications and very high usage of GIS applications interfacing with other partners. This includes Web Applications, API services, Batch, GIS custom applications and reporting technologies:

• ASP.Net, .Net Framework 4.8, MVC, Angular, C#, Power BI, GIS (ArcGIS, AGOL, VertiGIS, etc.), Oracle, JavaScript, Bootstrap, SharePoint, SFTP, Tableau, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps in the cloud, Batch and Web Applications.

Job Duties

• This position will work at the direction of the IT Custom Applications and Development Section Supervisors, Application Architect Lead, Business Relationship Manager, Project Manager, and program Leads, utilizing IT standards, software, and tools.
• Orienting oneself to current applications including .NET and/or PowerBuilder, technical debt, and current backlog. This includes reviewing code, documentation, setting up locally and talking with others to understand functionality and business needs.
• Design and develop applications leveraging standards, best practices and modernized design for performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, accessibility and secure coding practices while ensuring business needs are met.
• Assist with database architecture, design, and maintenance to ensure data accuracy, performance and scalability.
• Provide application maintenance, support, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Perform and document testing using approved tools and processes for validating functional and non‑functional scenarios to ensure quality and accuracy in meeting business needs.
• Manage code, branching and deployments through Azure DevOps, following release processes.
• Complete priority tasks and maintain task progress in Azure DevOps to support deliverables and timelines.
• Participate and contribute input in all meetings related to Agile Methodologies following guidance.
• Analyze tasks and provide input into estimates and timelines.
• Participate in technical team meetings to coordinate development activities and resolve risks.
• Provide support and issue resolution for user acceptance testing.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for the solution to support ongoing operations.
• Support enhancements, maintenance and documentation for additional program applications.

Developer will follow the standard development life cycle along with standards and procedures for management and versioning of source code, file management and change management processes. The developer must look out for security concerns or issues when developing applications and follow security related protocols. Applications must be built and supported in compliance with requirements.
