Job Description

  • Prepare and process Customs entries for both air and ocean shipments in a timely and accurate manner and manage the end-to-end clearance process.
  • Monitor and track the status of customs clearances, proactively addressing any delays or issues that arise.
  • File Importer Security Filings (ISF) promptly and notify all relevant parties the same day; follow up to ensure ISF matching is completed.
  • Review Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, and related shipping documents for accuracy and completeness to ensure proper Customs data submission.
  • Ensure full compliance with all U.S. regulatory agencies, including CBP, FDA, EPA, DOT, FCC, USDA, FWS, and others as applicable.
  • Accurately classify goods for Customs release using the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and client‑specific standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Communicate promptly with internal and external parties regarding issues such as holds, exams, and written notices received from CBP or Partner Government Agencies (PGAs).
  • Provide backup support to team members as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment within the Customs Brokerage team while maintaining ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture through professional conduct, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in international trade or supply chain is a plus).
  • 3 years of entry writer experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements, and international trade agreements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel.
  • Experience with Cargowise software is preferred.
