Structural Designer – Full‑time Position
Location: Islip, Long Island, New York
Base Pay Range: $150,000.00/yr – $160,000.00/yr
Our firm is seeking a highly skilled Structural Designer with seven years of experience delivering innovative and code‑compliant structural solutions across the New York City metropolitan area. The ideal candidate should possess a strong expertise in structural analysis, design, and detailing for a wide range of building types, including residential, commercial, and mixed‑use projects.
Responsibilities
Develop accurate construction drawings, specifications, and BIM models using AutoCAD, Revit, and advanced structural design software (ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD. Ro, Tekla).
Create and review structural analysis and design calculations to ensure compliance with New York City Building Codes, DOB regulations, zoning requirements, and national standards (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, AASHTO).
Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and reviewing shop drawings and RFIs.
Conduct on‑site inspections to verify construction quality and adherence to design intent.
Participate in new construction, renovations, and retrofits projects, focusing on structural integrity, cost‑effectiveness, and constructability.
File DOB submissions, ensure local law compliance, and manage special inspections.
Optimize designs for safety, sustainability, and project efficiency.
Maintain excellent communication, problem‑solving, and team leadership skills.
Qualifications
Seven (7) years of structural design experience.
Proficiency in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber design.
Strong understanding of high‑rise, foundation, and superstructure systems.
Experience with DOB filing, local law compliance, and special inspections.
Knowledge of New York City Building Codes and national design standards.
Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and one or more of ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD. Ro, Tekla.
Outstanding interpersonal and leadership abilities.
Must possess a green card or be a U.S. citizen.
