has a 12‑month contract opening for a UI Accessibility Developer to join a national energy company for an onsite position operating out of San Antonio, TX.

Pay:

$37.00/hr – $42.00/hr

Contract:

12 months, extensions likely, conversion possible

Summary We are looking for a hands‑on experienced User Interface/Experience (UI/UX) Developer/Programmer who can drive and advance our next‑generation modern digital workplace technology digital initiatives. This person will be the lead resource for communicating and working with business & technology end users to create and support holistic solutions for some high visibility on‑going projects.

As a UI/UX Developer you’ll be responsible for creating ADA compliant Mobile/Web experiences working with full‑stack application development teams. Experience with Adobe DXP/AEM/Analytics stack would be a plus. The developer needs to have a keen understanding of ADA/Accessibility compliance standards and platforms (e.g., SiteImprove, ADA/WCAG, etc.) and mitigation best practices to meet application/code compliance on modern web technology stacks especially front‑end programming.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Research, design, develop, test, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of UX designs into the JavaScript/Java codebase ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX design standards

Act as designer‑developer, switching hats in both the areas of design & develop, as Subject Matter Expert (SME) assisting with decision making for some high visibility on‑going projects

Create clean semantic HTML markup that passes WCAG & ADA/508 Accessibility standards & compliance

Provide development and support to the customer‑facing design system including new components, defects, accessibility, and page templates

Collaborate with analysts, developers and architects for successful implementation and component requirements

Remain current on user interface framework trends and programming techniques and suggest or research new tools and methods as needed

Design and maintain design files, wireframes, and mock‑ups

Design and develop UI and UX interfaces and assist with new user interface testing or participate in usability reviews

Hands‑on development on front‑end user frameworks (Vue.js, AngularJS, ReactJS, jQuery, etc.)

Provide responsive websites/apps development and support to the customer‑facing design system including new components, defects, accessibility, and page templates

Develop reusable and responsive, interactive patterns and code libraries that meet the highest W3 standards for HTML, JavaScript and CSS

Collaborate with business analysts, senior developers and architects for successful implementation and component requirements in a SDLC process

Research, design, develop, test, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of frontend designs into the JS/Java codebase

Participate in conceptualizing, prioritizing, and creating strategies for the product UX

Develop well‑structured and maintainable code that follows the best practices and industry standards; work with team members to develop UI prototypes as necessary and validate ideas with a data‑driven approach

Design and develop UI and UX interfaces to meet standards and requirements

Proficient understanding of cross‑browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them

Remain current on user interface trends and programming techniques and suggest new tools and methods as necessary

Minimum Qualifications

High School or GED

Deep experience in front‑end web application development with strong hands‑on programming experience with at least one language: Java, JavaScript, React, VUE, Angular on LAMP/MEAN/MERN stack is required.

Experience with creating conceptual and detailed design solutions based on end‑user needs

Knowledge and software development with Adobe Experience Manager, SharePoint and WordPress CMS will be a plus.

History of working with cross‑functional teams using Agile/Scrum methodologies

Experience with communicating and working with business, technology users to create holistic solutions

Skills, knowledge, and experience using end‑to‑end Human‑Centered Design (HCD) techniques including design, research, and usability

Preferred Qualifications

UI/UX design or web developer certifications and training

Previous experience in the Electric and Gas Utility industry

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or applicable business degree from an accredited university OR relevant business technical experience

Exposure to front‑end user frameworks (Vue.js, AngularJS, ReactJS, jQuery, etc.)

Strong front‑end development experience with a demonstrated focus on digital accessibility and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance

Experience using enterprise accessibility scanning tools (e.g., SiteImprove, Silktide, or similar) to monitor scores, identify defects, and track remediation progress

Ability to interpret accessibility scan results and translate findings into actionable, code‑level fixes

Hands‑on experience remediating accessibility issues in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and component‑based frameworks

Experience providing guidance and support to designers, developers, and content authors on accessibility best practices and remediation approaches

Familiarity with document accessibility, including Microsoft Office files (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF accessibility remediation

Experience supporting accessibility across websites, web applications, and digital content, including both legacy and modern platforms

Understanding of ADA Title II requirements and collaboration with ADA Coordinators or compliance teams to support organizational conformance efforts

Experience working within Agile ceremonies and methodologies
