Job Title
Visual Media Specialist
Department Marketing & Communications
Location Main Campus
Duties and Responsibilities
Photographs and/or records video for college events and activities, including lectures, seminars, sports, special events, and more.
Tells a visual story and independently captures unique and notable moments of campus life.
Understands digital asset management and adheres to departmental best practices.
Prepares visual media for web, print, and/or social media usage.
Works collaboratively to enhance and develop visual continuity between photographs and video.
Collaborates with Marketing and Communications staff to brainstorm and execute imagery that furthers specific marketing plans, campaigns, strategies, or budgets.
Develops and maintains relationships with college clients.
Maintains equipment.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Media Arts, Photography, Film/Videography, or another related field (Bachelor’s required).
Minimum 1-3 years of experience with photography and/or video production, preferably within higher education.
Online portfolio required (please ensure this is attached in your application materials or a link is provided).
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to use digital technology to capture still images, video segments, and audio on location and in the studio.
Knowledge of computers and standard computer applications related to photo, video, and multimedia editing and production, including Adobe Creative Suite, Extensis Portfolio, and more.
Knowledgeable of photographic skills and understands lighting both on location and in studio.
Experience with recording two-camera interviews and editing videos in Adobe Premiere.
Highly creative and able to receive constructive criticism appropriately.
Self-starter who can work independently, solve problems, and manage multiple projects at once.
Must be able to work quickly under deadline pressure and follow through on assignments.
Ability to concentrate and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
Able to travel and work outside of normal business hours both on‑ and off‑campus as shoots required.
Physical Requirements The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and work in indoor and outdoor situations in all climates.
Position Status Full Time
Hours General hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Evenings and weekends as needed (location sites may vary).
Salary and Benefits Salary: $47,945 – $64,160 (plus benefits)
