Freese and Nichols is seeking a

BIM/CAD OpenRoads Designer . Though our preference is to have someone in our corporate headquarters in

Fort Worth, Texas , we are open to considering people in any of our locations. As a BIM/CAD OpenRoads Designer, you will be a member of our Corporate Business Technology team. You will help document production processes and train on workflows, as well as help identify design needs and do the work. You will help extend our BIM/CAD capabilities, helping us scale solutions as we grow as an organization.

Primary Responsibilities

Understand the project requirements, scope of work, and deliverables

Provide leadership in taking a holistic view of the project and making independent project-level decisions that are trusted by the engineers

Maintain strong knowledge of company, industry, and technical vocabulary to support effective project delivery.

Maintain proficiency with Bentley Workspaces, WorkSets, configurations, and ProjectWise.

Prepare detailed and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge

Perform discipline design tasks that regularly require the application of fundamental engineering concepts with limited input and direction from the engineer

Provide conceptual input to projects during the planning stages

Delegate and supervise tasks assigned to Designers and Technicians

Coordinate design with other disciplines and coordinate work sharing within the team

Ensure output is professional, consistent with prevailing standards and satisfies project requirements

Interface with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers in order to support project production

Provide training, guidance and mentorship to staff

Participate in interviews for other positions on this ladder and making hiring recommendations

Perform quality control on deliverables and incorporating continuous improvement into work processes.

Develop and implementing new processes as required to ensure consistent quality

Potentially lead BIM/CAD activities on projects

Potentially manage BIM/CAD library for the discipline

Knowledge of company, industry, and technical vocabulary

Qualifications

5+ years' experience in BIM/CAD drafting and design with a broad base in engineering design and technical support of engineering

High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

BIM/CAD Associates Degree or Certification preferred.
