Remote 3D Generalist Artist job at Vinci Games. San Francisco, CA.
Vinci Games is small and scrappy global independent studio building the next generation of social VR games. Our team has experience working at top platforms and studios including Meta Reality Labs, Oculus, and CD Projekt RED.
We are looking for an exceptionally versatile and fast 3D Generalist to help build and refine the world of Ruffnauts, our stylized creature catching social VR game for Meta Quest. Ruffnauts is inspired by Pokemon and Gorilla Tag, and is positioned as a top free to play title on the platform.
You will create stylized low poly models across creatures, environments, cosmetics, props, and simple animations. Everything you build will be optimized for the tight performance constraints of standalone VR.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys shaping the look and feel of a new IP, working directly with founders, and iterating quickly based on player feedback. If you want your work to have immediate impact on a high visibility VR title, this is the right opportunity.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Create stylized low poly 3D assets for Ruffnauts including creatures, environments, props, cosmetics, and simple animations
Produce clean and efficient topology, UVs, and textures suitable for Meta Quest performance targets
Integrate assets directly into Unity including materials, import settings, LODs, and compression
Maintain a cohesive visual style while working across multiple asset categories
Work closely with design and engineering to deliver gameplay driven art needs
Iterate quickly based on internal testing, live player feedback, and design changes
REQUIREMENTS
Strong portfolio demonstrating stylized low poly 3D work, especially creatures and environment assets
Ability to deliver high quality work quickly without heavy oversight
Proficiency in Blender preferred, Maya or similar tools also acceptable
Understanding of performance constraints for standalone VR, including Meta Quest limits related to poly count, texture size, and draw calls
Ability to work confidently across multiple asset types including creatures, props, and environments
Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast paced, highly iterative production environment
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Unity
Experience rigging creatures or props
Experience retargeting animations for humanoid or custom rigs
Previous experience developing for VR, preferably Meta Quest
Unity integration experience including materials, shader setup, and asset import workflows
Familiarity with lightweight stylized shaders or basic VFX creation
WHY JOIN US
Work directly with founders of a YC-backed VR studio
High impact: your work shapes the identity of a new social F2P VR title
Fast iteration cycles and creative autonomy
Potential for long-term engagement
