OVERVIEW This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, detail-oriented, and proactive Design Assistant (or Junior Designer depending on experience) with great energy to join a collaborative and passionate firm. You will work closely with a small design team on all aspects of design and project management. This is a hybrid role with the studio based in San Carlos, CA. The ability to work in-office, from home, and travel to project site meetings is required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to: Support Lead Designer: Collaborate closely with one of our lead interior designers to bring creative visions to life. Assist in all phases of design projects, from concept development to final implementation. Space Planning: Assist in creating detailed floor plans, layouts, and furniture arrangements that optimize space and functionality while adhering to the design aesthetic. Rendering: Create 3D renderings and visualizations to support client presentations. Material and Product Selection: Research and source materials, finishes, furnishings, and accessories in alignment with the project's design concept. Maintain an organized materials library. Ordering and Expediting: Coordinate the ordering of materials and furnishings, expediting deliveries to meet project timelines and ensuring quality control. Client Interaction: Build strong relationships with clients by providing excellent customer service. Keep clients updated on project progress and assist in addressing their inquiries and concerns. Vendor Coordination: Liaise with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and products. Review and compare quotes and negotiate pricing when necessary. Documentation: Prepare design presentations, mood boards, and design boards to visually communicate design concepts to clients. Maintain accurate project documentation and records. Project Management: Assist in project management tasks, including scheduling, budget tracking, and on-site coordination during installations and photoshoots. Trends and Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging materials, and design innovations. Share insights and ideas with the design team to enhance creativity. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s or Associate's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture Understanding of the design process and project deliverables Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, including space planning, hand and digital drafting Knowledge of furniture, fabric and finish resources Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
