LINK Media is looking for a
Community Editor
who will be responsible for the day-to-day editorial leadership and execution of reporting across LINK nky and CityBeat. This role manages reporters at both publications, sets daily coverage priorities, assigns stories, and ensures consistent editorial quality and workflow. The Community Editor serves as the primary editor for daily content and is responsible for compiling and editing all print products, including weekly and bi-weekly editions, Super Issues and CityBeat special editions.
Salary: $55,000-$65,000 per year, plus benefits
What We Expect from You
Manage and supervise reporters at LINK nky and CityBeat, providing clear direction, feedback, and support
Run daily editorial meetings, establish coverage priorities, and make daily assignments
Serve as the first editor on all reported content from both publications, ensuring accuracy, clarity, tone, and alignment with editorial standards
Coordinate coverage across beats to ensure balanced, comprehensive reporting and avoid duplication
Compile, edit, and organize all content for:
Weekly LINK Reader and bi-weekly CityBeat print editions
Super Issues
CityBeat special editions
Work closely with the Executive Editor on editorial planning, major projects, and publication calendars
Ensure deadlines are met across digital and print workflows
Collaborate with Senior Digital Editor to align written content with video, social, and audience priorities
Uphold LINK Media’s standards for public-interest journalism, community representation, and editorial integrity
Skills We Need You to Have
Prior experience in newsroom editing or editorial leadership
Strong editing skills with the ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy and quality
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple reporters, deadlines, and publication schedules simultaneously
Strong news judgment and understanding of local journalism, including government, community, and culture coverage
Comfort working across digital and print platforms
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced newsroom environment
