Assistant Video Producers work collaboratively with the CSU Learning Design & Educational Solutions Team to build exceptional online educational experiences for our students for both credit and non‑credit programs. This full‑time position will coordinate on the production and curation of instructional video while working closely with instructional designers as they work with faculty to develop online, hybrid, and residential courses. The successful candidate will possess an in‑depth understanding of producing informational and educational film and will be expected to become familiar with systems that support online course delivery. Working under moderate supervision, they will work independently on complete video production projects from concept to delivery. Assistant Video Producers are the essential thread that connects creative vision with technical execution in educational media production. Required Job Qualifications

Completed bachelor’s degree in journalism, television production, public relations, marketing, communications or closely related field. 1 year of experience in digital media production, including planning, shooting, and editing informational or educational film. Demonstrated experience in video recording techniques for studio and on‑site locations, including lighting and audio settings and best practices. Hardware (digital cameras and sound‑recording equipment) and software tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, and other software) to produce instructional videos. Implementing media into web‑based instructional materials. Preferred Job Qualifications

Awareness of the importance of and the ability to produce video that is accessible (e.g., familiar with the use of closed‑captioning tools). Experience with processes relevant to the development of media in a higher education environment. Familiarity with copyright compliance and fair use. Demonstrated experience successfully working with university faculty and staff. Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as an individual contributor and member of multiple internal and external teams and organizations. Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, work independently, and meet strict deadlines. Experience using drones to capture video. Essential Duties

Video Production

Manage complete multimedia (audio/video) production projects from concept to delivery for instructional/educational content. Plan, record, and edit instructional video for marketing and production teams, determining optimal production approaches for each project. Post‑production editing of instructional video content for all courses. Implement media into web‑based materials and learning management systems, adapting content for different platforms as needed. Configure, operate, and maintain studio and field audio, lighting, cameras, and associated production equipment. Maintain video‑production equipment (e.g., cameras and microphones) and studio organization. Work with university stakeholders as a point of contact, represent CSU branding and standards. Complete course video content by 100% deadline with minimal re‑edits. Apply lighting and audio best practices to ensure professional‑quality productions. Ensure accessibility compliance, including closed‑captioning implementation, and more in compliance with WCAG 3.0. Maintain awareness of copyright compliance and fair use in educational media production. Training and Development

Train and assist student workers (e.g., student video editors) developing training materials and workflows to improve team efficiency. Research and stay up to date with current industry trends and techniques, evaluating new technologies for potential implementation. Provide input on future projects and potential technologies for video production. Stay current with software and hardware updates. Work closely with instructional designers, faculty, and staff to develop effective educational media. Maintain positive and supportive relationships with faculty and instructional design team members. Resolve most production and technical issues independently; elevate complex issues to supervisors when needed. Application Details
