Part-Time | Flexible Schedule | Training Provided
Starting Pay: $15–$18/hr (based on experience and learning speed)
About the Role
Lexington Ice Sculptures is seeking a reliable, hands-on Ice Production & Artist’s Assistant to support our ice production, sculpture delivery, and event setup operations. This is a truly unique job where you’ll work alongside world-renowned ice artist Matthew Stoddart, learning a rare craft while helping bring unforgettable art to life for weddings, galas, corporate events, and celebrations across Central Kentucky.
No prior ice-carving experience necessary — we will train the right person.
What You’ll Do
Ice Production & Harvesting
- Assist with creating, freezing, and harvesting 300–500 lb crystal-clear ice blocks
- Operate basic machinery and follow production schedules
- Maintain cleanliness and safety of the ice production area
Deliveries & Event Setups
- Load, transport, and set up ice sculptures at venues
- Interact professionally with clients, event planners, and venue staff
- Ensure sculptures are safely placed, leveled, and displayed
Apprenticeship Opportunities
- Train directly under a world-champion ice sculptor (chainsaws, chisels, design techniques)
- Learn carving skills at your own pace — optional but available
Support Seasons Catering (as needed)
- Assist with catering deliveries, basic prep, or event setup (based on skill set and interest)
What You Need
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable working in freezing conditions (your “studio” is a freezer)
- Able to lift 75–150 lbs repeatedly
- Able to stand on your feet 5–7 hours at a time
- Willing to work in a labor-intensive, safety-driven environment
Skills & Traits
- Enjoys hands-on work, art, design, or using tools
- Comfortable or curious about hand tools and chainsaws (training provided)
- Dependable, punctual, and safety-minded
- Positive, energetic attitude
- Works well with both male and female teammates
- Quick learner with good attention to detail
- Flexible schedule — workload varies seasonally
