Shaka Wear is hiring: Illustrator/Graphic Designer (for Apparel) in Los Angeles

Position Overview

We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented in-house Illustrator/Graphic Designer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role focuses on creating original t-shirt graphics and preparing artwork for screen printing. The ideal candidate has a strong illustration style, understands streetwear trends, and is experienced in working with Adobe Illustrator to create production-ready artwork, including proper color separations for screen printing.

Key Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, illustrate, and design original t-shirt graphics that align with our brand’s style and target audience.
• Create production-ready artwork with accurate color separations for screen printing.
• Work with the Creative Director to develop seasonal collections and special releases.
• Adapt and refine designs based on feedback while maintaining brand consistency.
• Manage file organization and maintain proper file formats for production.
• Stay updated on current design, fashion, and streetwear trends for inspiration.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator (required).
• Experience with color separation for screen printing (spot color and halftone techniques).
• Strong illustration, drawing and photo composition skills.
• Knowledge of typography, composition, and graphic design principles.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Portfolio showcasing t-shirt graphics and illustration work.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in apparel or streetwear design.
• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop for mockups and texturing.
• Familiarity with garment printing processes beyond screen printing (DTG, heat transfer).

Compensation

• Competitive hourly rate or project-based pay (depending on experience).
