With a record high backlog of boats to build, SAFE Boats needs to expand our capabilities (and output!) related to technical documentation and publications. Our amazing first responder, department of defense, and other important customers rely on this documentation to successfully operate and maintain their SAFE Boats. What you will be responsible for:

You will gather research and create technical materials, such as equipment manuals, procedures, appendices, and operating and maintenance instructions to be supplied to SAFE Boats customers. You will write, compile, take photographs, design and assist in layout work to create a variety of documents and document packages for end users. What you will be doing:

Creation of and maintenance of the tools (e.g. photographs), libraries, templates and base deliverables to ensure an effective and accurate technical publications and documents library Organize material and complete writing assignment(s) according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Populates and manages Technical Documentation Process and deliverables from cross functional teams Maintain records and files of work and revisions. Edit, standardize, or make changes to materials as needed/directed Engage with production and engineering departments and research other resources and material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods for use in documents Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding. Study drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail. Observe and document production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail. Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. Edit and enhance if needed. Assist in laying out material for publication. Arrange for creation of, duplication and distribution of material(s), documents, manuals, etc. Takes photos of equipment installed on boats for implementation into manuals. Complete photo-documentation prior to delivery for all departments. Maintain photo-documentation schedule according to build completion. Works with project managers to schedule and capture in-water running photos of each build. Assist with proposal writing and editing as needed. Assist with training documentation as needed. Assist with in-house documentation as needed. Produces internal copywriting documentation for the organization request Creates and edits company forms and documents as needed Other related duties as assigned Skills we need you to have:

Proficiency with Microsoft 360 Suite Should have a general understanding of revision control and document management Experience with Desktop Publishing Programs preferred - Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Microsoft Visio Proficiency with digital photography Graphics or photo imaging software experience- Adobe Systems Adobe Illustrator; Adobe Systems Adobe Photoshop software; Corel CorelDraw Graphics Suite; Corel Paint Shop Pro Copywriting/technical writing- ability to gather, organize, edit, and proof copywriting and arrange supporting drawings and images for highly technical information/data packages and presentations Understanding and experience creating and revising forms Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task Must be a US Citizen due to Contract Requirements Required Experience & Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Technical Writing, or a similar field preferred or an Associate degree and/or 2-4 years of equivalent relevant experience can be substituted Physical Requirements:

Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity. Bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks Able to lift up to 40 lbs Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time (up to 10 hours) Ability to climb stairs, access tight enclosed areas, navigate scaffolding, etc (to access boats for photographs) Able to go underway in rough sea state conditions and in inclement weather (extreme heat and or cold) All new hires are subject to pre-employment drug screenings, background checks, and E-Verify, according to federal law.
