Mechanical Engineer – Military Ground Vehicles

POSITION SUMMARY This Mechanical Engineering role is responsible for the
design, development, and release of mechanical components and subsystems
for military ground vehicles. The engineer applies established engineering principles to solve complex design challenges and supports designs through
build, test, and production
phases.
Areas of focus may include
shock and vibration isolation ,
device mounting , and
stowage equipment integration . Additional assignments may include
seating and crew accommodations ,
battery enclosures ,
hydraulic systems ,
fire suppression systems , and
driver control interfaces .
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and integrate mechanical components into vehicle platforms to meet performance requirements, including
human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic, and mine blast standards .
Perform design, integration, and analysis of
mechanical components, mechanisms, and shock attenuation systems
used for device mounting.
Apply
mechanics of materials , material selection, welding, and fabrication principles to the design of mechanical components and complex welded brackets and mounting provisions.
Support multiple projects through
analysis and design , drawing markups, tolerance stack-ups, and generation of source data for engineering changes.
Prepare
material requests and shop work requests , track part delivery and inventory, participate in integration reviews and fit checks, and author technical reports.
Support
prototype and production vehicle builds , including follow-up actions, troubleshooting, corrective action development, and redesign activities.
Present
design concepts, technical solutions, and program status
to functional leadership and program management.
Direct and oversee
CAD model and drawing development .
Conduct
failure analysis , define corrective actions, and prepare technical documentation and presentations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering .
5–7+ years
of experience in a related mechanical engineering role.
Demonstrated understanding of
mechanical engineering fundamentals .
Experience supporting
prototype and/or production build activities .
Experience with
root cause analysis and corrective action
processes.
Solid modeling experience using
NX and/or Creo .
Ability to travel up to
10%
to other facilities and military installations as required.
PREFERRED / ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
Experience using
Teamcenter
and
Vis Mockup .
Prior experience working on
ground combat vehicles .
Familiarity with military vehicle integration, survivability requirements, and vehicle standards.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to climb on/off, work in, and work around military vehicles.
Willingness to work
occasional weekends, evenings, and overtime
as required.
Strong
communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills .
Ability to work
independently
on component and system designs while collaborating effectively within an integrated vehicle development environment.

U.S. Security Clearance . Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
