Responsibilities
Coordinate, prepare and submit oil and gas regulatory applications and notices of work. Permit special projects with minimal direction or supervision; initiate and coordinate project development requirements with company personnel and outside contractors; assist with training of less experienced regulatory staff. Interpret regulatory rules and rule changes and ensure they are communicated to and implemented by operational groups. Recommend changes to procedures in response to regular updates to regulations and advise operational teams on compliance issues. Communicate with local, state and federal regulatory agencies on pre-submission strategies, compliance requirements or clarifications, and follow-up of submissions under review. Interact daily with regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and provide information necessary to comply with the regulatory requirements of all associated projects. Occasional travel to regulatory agency offices in New Mexico and Texas is required. Qualifications
5+ years' experience in oil/gas regulatory permitting. Thorough knowledge of current state, federal, and local laws, rules and regulations related to upstream oil and gas operations. Preference given to candidates with regulatory experience working on federal lands in New Mexico. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced working environment. Strong interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate deliverables and interact with all levels of the organization, from upper management to field groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, other operational groups, and regulatory officials. Strong organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities with minimal supervision. Strong computer and database skills.
