Associate Surety Underwriter, Surety Underwriting Development Program – Early Career
Join Liberty Mutual Surety™ as an Associate Surety Underwriter in our 12‑month development program. This role combines structured mentoring, hands‑on learning, rotational exposure across global product lines, and the opportunity to build customers and relationships worldwide.
Pay Range Base salary: $47,000 – $123,000 per year.
This range is indicative and depends on skills, experience, education, certifications and location.
Program Highlights
Structured mentoring and coaching from senior underwriting leaders.
Hands‑on underwriting experience with real‑world credit analysis, contract evaluation, and risk assessments.
Rotations across niche and global product lines within the Surety business.
Opportunities to pursue the Associate in Fidelity in Surety Bonding (AFSB) certification.
Upon completion, transition to a full‑time Surety Underwriter role in a defined territory and product line.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a comparable field with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Strong foundation in financial statement analysis and familiarity with accounting concepts.
0‑2 years of professional experience, preferably in finance or insurance.
Global mindset and ability to adapt to diverse cultures and communication styles.
Excellent analytical, organizational, negotiation and decision‑making skills.
Outstanding interpersonal and customer‑service skills focused on relationship building.
Prior internship experience in a finance‑related environment is a plus.
Willingness to relocate upon program completion.
Compensation & Benefits The starting salary range for this role is competitive and may include a commission or bonus component depending on the role and location.
