Job Overview A Market Grille Clerk provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, handles food safely, and maintains a clean and orderly work area. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include taking customer orders, managing food supplies, and ensuring the section of the store remains organized and compliant with health and safety standards.
Key Requirements
Night and weekend shifts are required.
No education requirement; six months or less of similar or related work experience.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly.
Must handle a noisy, busy store environment, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and temperature extremes.
Responsibilities
Provide fast, friendly customer service, including greeting customers, assisting with product location, and handling orders.
Accept and process phone calls, taking orders and giving helpful information.
Prepare, cook, and replenish food items on the Market Grille counter.
Check order status, ensure freshness of food, and maintain adequate stock.
Run register and process payments where applicable.
Keep the work area clean, dispose of trash, and follow hygiene and dress guidelines.
Collaborate with coworkers to create a positive work environment.
Report to scheduled work and meet deadlines on multiple tasks.
Secondary Responsibilities
Wash dishes as needed.
Order supplies and price products for customers.
Deliver orders and assist in other store areas as required.
Participate in special projects or other job‑related duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Follow verbal or written instructions and accurately record data.
Basic addition and subtraction skills for handling money and inventory.
Understand and comply with verbal or demonstrated instructions at all times.
Reporting Relations Accountable to District Store Director and Store Manager, and reports to Assistant Managers of Store Operations, Perishables, Health Wellness Home, Food Service Director, Market Grille Department Manager, Assistant Market Grille Department Manager, and Service Managers. No positions report to this role.
Tools and Equipment Kitchen tools including disposal, trash compactor, slicer, Hobart machine, grill, fryer, dishwasher, register system, ovens, rotisserie, knives, label maker, and potentially a company vehicle.
Physical Requirements
Lift & move objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Perform activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Vision requirements: from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet, with or without correction.
Working Conditions Store environment with noise, moving equipment, chemical exposures, electrical hazards, and temperature extremes. Significant pressure to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
