Position Summary The Chief Community Engagement Officer is responsible for developing and executing strategy in support of the overall strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of partner agency and school relationships, neighbor experience, programs benefiting populations including children, families, seniors and veterans, nutrition education efforts, disaster relief and response, capacity building and compliance, ongoing data analysis and the development of new and existing collaborations that move the mission forward. This position will actively identify, create and execute opportunities to demonstrate measurable impact and to build capacity in the communities served by The Food Bank through strong collaboration and partnerships. They will have oversight for a team of dynamic individuals and will build strong internal relationships with the Food Bank executive team and key stakeholders within the organization while building and maximizing external relationships.

Job Qualifications

Master’s degree or equivalent experience and education

Minimum of five years of professional experience addressing the needs of the low-income community, non-profit experience preferred

Proven management and supervisory skills; minimum of five years supervisory experience required

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Superior problem solving and conflict management skills

Proven leadership and management skills

Commitment to leading and working as part of a team

Ability to build and maintain relationships

Ability to maintain the highest level of integrity and confidentiality

Strong analytical abilities and interpersonal skills

Duties

Serve as a member of The Food Bank Executive team. Identify opportunities to create a demonstrated impact across service area. Assist in developing short- and long-term objectives, goals, efficiencies and strategies for the organization. Administer operational plans, policies, and goals which further strategic objectives. Uphold and practice TFB core values of respect, integrity, stewardship, and compassion.

Provide leadership, direction and oversight to community engagement team. Includes programmatic efforts benefitting children, families, veterans, seniors, disaster relief, SNAP and Medicaid outreach, nutrition education and more, collection and dissemination of data to support partner agencies and schools, communications and advocacy efforts, grant proposals and reporting, and internal decision-making.

Work collaboratively with the Operations team to distribute food through programmatic efforts and sites including Partner Agencies and Mobile Pantries, healthcare partnerships and USDA foods; help to lead efforts to build recently launched pilot Partner Purchase Program offering agencies new food sourcing options.

Ensure the support and maintenance of quality programs and services benefitting partner agencies and schools by developing and effectively implementing a plan for technical assistance, training and supportive compliance monitoring.

Build, lead and maintain a community assessment effort focused on identifying, exploring and alleviating hunger and the root causes of hunger.

Strengthen community connection to The Food Bank by cultivating new relationships and building upon existing relationships throughout service area.

Monitor and maintain hunger mapping tools across service area to determine and address need and use informed data and metrics to identify proactive approaches as appropriate.

Steward and enhance the experience of neighbors served by The Food Bank through various channels and interactions. This will include taking a lead role in developing Neighbor Advisory Councils and elevating neighbor voices.

Oversee ongoing agency and school partner monitoring including inspections and periodic reviews according to Feeding America standards; coordinate partner agency agreements and addendums; review new agency requests as needed.

Provide oversight for the planning of the annual partner agency conference.

Travel periodically within thirty-two county service area to visit partners, agencies and schools.

Represent The Food Bank in local and regional food insecurity interests and efforts, make presentations as necessary and appropriate in conjunction with the President and CEO.
