Mortgage Sales Manager The Mortgage Sales Manager serves as a key leader within the mortgage lending department, responsible for driving growth in mortgage originations while delivering an exceptional member experience. This role reflects Purdue Federal’s commitment to helping members achieve homeownership through outstanding service, competitive products, and personalized solutions. The Mortgage Sales Manager combines sales leadership with individual contribution by recruiting, training, and developing a high‑performing team of loan originators while also generating personal production through business development and community engagement.

The Mortgage Sales Manager is accountable for building strong referral networks, strengthening community and business partner relationships, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and internal lending regulations. Primary responsibilities span our core markets of Tippecanoe, LaPorte, and Lake Counties, with additional support to members nationwide.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Champion a member‑first culture by reinforcing service expectations and ensuring all interactions reflect Purdue Federal’s standards of care.

Recruit, train, and develop mortgage loan originators, setting clear goals and holding the team accountable for both production and service quality.

Provide ongoing coaching through meetings, pipeline reviews, and one‑on‑one sessions to build skills, drive results, and strengthen member relationships.

Support employees in identifying member needs, providing personalized mortgage solutions, and promoting appropriate credit union products and services.

Foster a collaborative, performance‑driven culture by modeling Purdue Federal’s mission, vision, and values, promoting accountability, recognition, and professional growth.

Monitor performance, service feedback, and operational data to identify trends, address concerns, and implement improvements that enhance satisfaction and loyalty.

Communicate priorities effectively and guide teams through organizational change with adaptability and resilience.

Member Counseling & Origination (Individual Contribution)

Meet with members to provide professional mortgage counseling, including prequalification, product guidance, and financial education.

Complete loan applications (1003), lock interest rates, prepare initial disclosures, and ensure timely collection of supporting documentation.

Provide accurate calculations of estimated payments, closing costs, and funds needed at closing while maintaining proactive communication with members and third parties (realtors, builders, title companies).

Participate in closings, open houses, seminars, and other activities to build visibility and generate leads.

Market Development & Business Growth

Build and maintain referral networks with realtors, builders, financial advisors, and community partners across core markets.

Partner with Marketing to design and implement localized outreach strategies.

Represent Purdue Federal at community events, open houses, and industry functions to expand visibility and strengthen relationships.

Monitor sales and market data to identify opportunities and adjust strategies to increase mortgage production.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

Partner with processing, underwriting, and closing teams to ensure an efficient and accurate loan process.

Oversee resources, tools, and vendor relationships to support team readiness and operational effectiveness.

Ensure compliance with federal and state lending regulations, secondary market guidelines, SAFE Act requirements, and internal controls.

Maintain strong risk management and audit practices while providing feedback on product competitiveness and service enhancements.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of Secondary Market Guidelines/Federal Lending Regulations

Strong understanding of local housing markets in both Tippecanoe, Laporte, and Lake Counties.

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.

Willingness to travel regularly between markets

Self‑motivated and highly organized

Must be a team player with a positive attitude

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This job operates in a clerical office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phone, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets.

This position requires sitting, bending, stooping or standing as necessary.
