Overview
The Program Director is a full‑time position within the Springfield Boys & Girls Club. S/he will develop and implement all programs within the club, as well as help oversee program staff. Ideally, s/he will have knowledge of and experience with EEC regulations.
Duties & Responsibilities
Create and implement fun and innovative programming and activities for both the drop‑in and licensed programs, utilizing a variety of tools including bgca.net
Assist in hiring of all program staff (part‑time and full‑time) as needed
Serve as direct supervisor for Boys & Girls Club program staff
Work with assistant executive director to complete regular performance evaluations and training for program staff
Work with the assistant executive director to determine staffing needs and help set weekly schedules
Assist in leading periodic meetings with program staff
Understand program budget to ensure it remains within parameters set by the Board of Directors
Promote membership by developing relationships with existing members and their caregivers, as well as fostering new relationships within the community
Cultivate relationships with outside agencies to expand programming
Undergo training related to EEC requirements, helping ensure full staff compliance with all regulations
Provide programmatic reports to the Executive Director and other members of the management team at least twice per month
Help ensure that club members’ activities are properly tracked within the Vision database, sharing data with other members of the management staff as requested
Assist in the recruitment and management of program volunteers, including interns
Work with assistant executive director to determine needs for program supplies
Ensure all members and staff are in compliance with club policies and procedures
Assist the assistant executive director in behavior issues as they relate to club membersPerform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Hold an Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a concentration in education or youth services
At least two years’ experience working with youth in a similar setting
Some supervisory experience preferred
Experience with program planning and implementation
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with others
The desire to work with a diverse population
Highly organized
Can demonstrate the ability to Plan, Organize Direct Control Programs or Special Events
Some understanding of EEC requirements
First Aid/CPR certified
Pass the BGCA Security & Safety Background Check
