Job Summary As a Recreation Coordinator you will promote the resort's recreational activities and facilities to both children and adults. You will provide exceptional customer service while interacting with guests in the fitness center, during recreational activities, and at large events. This team member will work out of the fitness center. Fitness‑related teaching and training is not required for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist the Fitness & Recreation Manager with daily operations of the Fitness & Recreation department, including reservations, programming, facility maintenance, and safety.
Maintain accurate knowledge of resort activities and events, facilities and amenities, services, values, mission, and vision.
Assist with the daily responsibilities of the Fitness Center: answering phones, restocking supplies, washing/drying towels, and submitting trouble tickets.
Open and close the fitness center, run nightly reports, and drop deposits off at the Welcome Center.
Coordinate, plan, and execute regularly scheduled activities such as crabbing, tie‑dye, and plan and host special events and holiday activities in Harbour Town.
Sell fitness memberships and annual pool passes.
Oversee booking reservations and payment policy procedures for all fitness and recreational activities.
Assist in performing facility maintenance inspections for fitness center, pool, and playground.
Develop a working knowledge of FareHarbor, an online booking and reservation software system.
Develop a working knowledge of Wherewolf, a waiver software program, as well as Visual One and Track hospitality software systems.
Assist with ordering supplies for fitness center and holiday events.
Assist with marketing efforts for all aquatic, fitness, and recreational programs.
Develop program ideas and provide creative input toward existing programs or upcoming events.
Assist corporate groups with team building activities on a needed basis.
Qualifications
Knowledge about recreational activities and programs.
Strong guest service experience.
Excellent communication skills with members, guests, and coworkers.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Capable of multi‑tasking and possessing good organizational skills.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Hospitality, or related field.
One or more years of experience in Recreation or Hospitality.
Physical Demands Many activities are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot and cold weather. Temperature can be extreme but is usually moderate. The role requires the ability to lift 30 pounds or more.
