Position Details
Position Number: 4M0203 Department: SWC Counseling & Psych Division Division: Division of Student Success Appointment Type: Classified Contract Type: Salary FTE: 1.0 (negotiable FTE in June and July)
Brief Position Overview
This position reports to the Associate Director for Outreach and Prevention (ADOP) and works closely with the Associate Director on CAPS outreach planning and initiatives. The Outreach Specialist will serve as a senior staff clinician providing multiculturally attuned clinical services to students of the university and will support the vision of CAPS outreach and prevention efforts. The position is full-time with a possibility of negotiating June and July FTE to .5.
Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the Associate Director on CAPS outreach planning and initiatives.
Develop and implement outreach programs focused on student mental health and suicide prevention.
Assist with coordination and marketing.
Lead CAPS social media efforts in collaboration with broader Student Wellness social media efforts.
Serve as a standing member of the CAPS Outreach Committee.
Serve as primary liaison contact for 2-3 established partnerships on campus.
Develop and train staff on assessment measures to ensure effectiveness of outreach programming.
Serve as the backup to the ADOP in their absence.
Fulfill all senior staff clinical duties including direct counseling, supervision of interns, crisis intervention, and after‑hours on‑call.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Master’s degree in counseling or clinical psychology, mental health counseling, social work or a doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology from an accredited program. For psychologists, candidates must have a doctoral internship from an APA accredited program.
Licensed in the state of MT as an LCPC, LCSW, or psychologist by start date.
Demonstrated experience and expertise in outreach and prevention efforts focused on mental health on a university campus.
Demonstrated experience using social media platforms and/or marketing skills to reach students.
Well‑developed skills in crisis assessment and intervention with an adult population.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Experience developing outreach programs on a wide range of topics specific to college students.
Experience in an administrative or coordinator role in a university counseling center or in a clinical setting.
Experience working in a university counseling center.
Experience providing outreach and consultation services to college student population.
Experience working on an integrated, multidisciplinary team.
The Successful Candidate Will
Have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to collaborate successfully with other offices, faculty, staff, students, parents, Medical Services and other student service offices.
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
Have the ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds.
Possess the ability to be flexible and respond quickly to urgent needs arising from the campus community.
Demonstrate the capacity to work autonomously and also engage in collaborative team efforts.
Have the ability to complete documentation in a timely manner in accordance with agency policies and ethical standards.
Maintain confidentiality of records and information.
Have the ability to use computer programs (including an electronic health record) to complete job duties and assist in agency functioning.
