Assistant Superintendent of Parks

Clarksville Parks & Recreation is seeking a motivated and experienced professional to serve as Assistant Superintendent of Parks and assist in planning, managing, and overseeing the town’s parks, recreational facilities, and services. This full-time leadership position works closely with the Superintendent of Parks to provide direction in staff supervision, facility operations, budget management, and community partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Assist with daily operations and long-range planning for parks, trails, and recreational facilities. Provide administrative oversight of aquatic center operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and policies. Serve as liaison between the parks department and the school system for youth sports programs. Manage sports field reservations, rentals, and contracts. Oversee the leased concession operation at the ballpark and monitor contract compliance. Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating staff. Support policy development, procedures, and community partnerships. Assist with budget preparation, capital planning, and revenue tracking. Contribute to facility planning, redevelopment projects, and maintenance coordination. Assist with public relations efforts and respond to citizen inquiries. Support grant applications and contract administration. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation or a closely related field required. Minimum of 4 years of experience in parks and recreation or a related public or professional environment, including supervision. Ability to obtain and maintain Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification and swimming pool operator certification (AFO or CPO). Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance practices, and budgeting. Valid driver’s license required.
