The right fit is someone who brings a warm, grounded energy to the job and understands gentle, positive discipline and calm guidance. A person who is organized, takes initiative, brings a grownup professionalism, and enjoys intelligent kids in an energetic home is ideal. The ability to organize fun and educational activities for both developmental stages and find ways to navigate the two ages together is indispensable. The candidate must be capable of an active day with two young kids, managing pick-ups, walking kids to activities, engaging with them at home or on outdoor excursions. Strong familiarity and work experience within NYC and Brooklyn would be strongly preferred. While kids are the priority and a housekeeper visits the home twice a week, the family appreciates a team-player mentality, with a willingness to pitch in on supporting an organized home, to best help everyone’s lives run more smoothly. Experience with toddlers and school-age children is essential. Spanish-speaking is a big plus.### About the Children6-year-old: He is playful, affectionate, deeply curious, and eager to learn. He is in school until early afternoon with some afterschool activities including gardening and dance. He loves building, crafting, and outdoor play time. A very verbal kid from an early age, he is now learning Spanish. He is excited to begin to read and loves to read with others too. With a great imagination, he enjoys creative outlets like songwriting and storytelling, and he thrives with warm caregivers who enjoy his inquisitive energy.2-year-old: She is outgoing, joyful, and curious, with a growing sense of independence. She takes a class 3 mornings a week in the neighborhood. She loves to paint, make bracelets, pretend-play, sing, dance, play with cars and trucks, and read. She is built with a positive temperament, confident and assertive, and she is a remarkably good listener for a 2-year-old. In true second child fashion, she looks up to her older brother and wants to be like him or play with him, and their bond is growing as they find new ways they can play together. Typically a good sleeper, she still has a nap midday.### ResponsibilitiesThe nanny’s day will primarily center around the younger child until her brother gets out of school in time for dinner, though there are some school holidays and summer days where both are home all day. Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to planning age-appropriate activities at home or in the neighborhood, managing school pickups, and assisting with child-related tidying (i.e the children’s laundry, organizing the play areas and the like), and occasional household tasks (such as unpacking groceries). Lunch and dinner preparation for the kids (cooking simple recipes like baked chicken, pasta, vegetables) will be required. The family appreciates the “see a need, fill a need” mindset where possible. A drivers license is needed. Ability to travel with the family a week or two a year domestically and internationally is not required but appreciated.### Additional InformationYou must have 6 to 10 years of in-home experience. You must have three verifiable references that we can call, be vaccinated against Covid 19 and have proof of in-person CPR within the past two years.
