You will be essential in assisting our individuals in a residential setting with achieving their personal goals, enhancing their quality of life, and fostering independence.
Starting pay:
$21.00/Hr. Upon completion of MODD 2 Training:
$22.00/Hr. Upon completion of MODD 3 Training:
$23.00/Hr.

Position Title: Direct Support Professional I
Department: Community Living
Job Purpose The Direct Support Professional plays a crucial role in empowering individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities to achieve their goals, acquire new skills, and live fulfilling lives.
Qualifications
High school diploma, GED or HiSET
Age 18, valid driver’s license and good driving record; must have a Class E license in Missouri or Class C in Kansas or be able to obtain within 30 days of employment
Successful background screen
Eligibility to work in the U.S.
Must be able to pass and maintain all required trainings including CPR/First Aid, Crisis Prevention, Medication Administration, etc.
Successfully pass “Fit for Duty” physical
Essential Functions
Promotes the PCBS Mission

Supports a person‑centered philosophy
Supports persons served to lead a healthy, clean, and safe lifestyle that meets their preferences
Advocacy
Advocate for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities
Provide supports by assisting in the development and implementation of all support plans, assisting people in achieving their personal goals and desires, providing interaction and choices for activities that support a meaningful day, and supporting people to be independent in activities of daily living
Facilitate social interactions and community involvement, encouraging residents to participate in group activities and outings within their communities
Direct Support Services
Implement individualized person‑centered plans which may include the following depending on the person(s) served:
Provide protected oversight at levels noted in the plan
Administer medications according to policy and training
Physically assist (support, lift, transfer, etc.) persons as needed
Provide transportation for persons served
Support persons served to be active members of the community
Provide personal hygiene support
Provide non‑violent crisis intervention techniques as needed according to policy and training
Provide companionship and emotional support
Document supports provided as required in daily shift notes and maintain privacy and confidentiality of persons served following policy and procedures
Maintain current training and certifications in all required areas
Positive Work‑Environment
Communicates both verbally and non‑verbally in a clear, efficient, and respectful way in both oral and written formats
Completes tasks on time and up to the expected standard
Works through disagreements with honesty and transparency fostering a trusting team environment
Works with teammates in a collaborative way that aids improvement of skills and outcomes
Works closely with other staff members, families, and external agencies to ensure cohesive support for resident
Secondary Functions
Report facility and maintenance/safety needs to supervisor
Perform general house cleaning, cooking and laundry chores as assigned
Attend all meetings and agency functions as required
Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
Regular lifting, kneeling, standing, walking, stooping, crouching, or bending as appropriate
Must constantly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 20 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and safely perform a 2‑person transfer of an adult
Possibility of physical intervention as trained in CPI if confronted by a person displaying combative or potentially dangerous behavior
Will require periods of driving agency vehicles
May require the administration of chest compressions and rescue breaths as trained in CPR
Noise from persons served, office machines, appliances, and telephones
Will have a substantial use of video display terminal
Possibility of exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other communicable diseases
