Executive Director External Manufacturing, Strategic Planning and Process We are currently looking to fill an Executive Director, External Manufacturing Strategic Planning and Process, to lead our newly established Center of Excellence within the External Manufacturing Operations department. This pivotal role will focus on advancing master planning, strategy development, and process optimization to ensure operational excellence across the external manufacturing global supply chain. The Executive Director will serve as a key interface between internal teams and external manufacturing partners, driving strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and long‑term horizon planning for product manufacturing.

Typical Responsibilities

Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with CMOs and vendors to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with organizational goals.

Evaluate, select, and onboard CMOs using robust scorecards and metrics to ensure optimal performance and quality outcomes.

Negotiate contracts and manage vendor relationships to drive value and mitigate risks.

Develop and execute strategic plans for external manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, business risk mitigation, and product lifecycle needs.

Implement horizon planning strategies to anticipate and address future manufacturing requirements.

Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and cost‑effectiveness across the external manufacturing network.

Serve as the primary interface with internal cross‑functional counterparts to ensure cohesive operations and continuous improvement.

Report on key metrics and performance indicators, delivering actionable insights to executive leadership.

Communicate complex manufacturing strategies and data effectively to drive informed decision‑making.

Provide strong leadership and direction to cross‑functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Build and develop a high‑performing team within the Center of Excellence, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and values.

Act as a mentor and coach to team members, promoting professional growth and development.

Oversee the project management function to ensure consistent processes and efficient execution of manufacturing and tech‑transfer projects across the operational squads.

Leverage advanced analytics to drive data‑informed decisions and enhance operational performance.

Monitor and evaluate project outcomes to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Have advanced proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics to support decision‑making.

Preferred To be considered for this role you must hold a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) is preferred. The following amount of relevant experience is required:

Executive Director level: 15+ years of progressive experience in external manufacturing, supply chain, or operations within the biopharma industry.

Salary Range (annually) $239,600.00 - $399,400.00
