Method of Appointment

Board members are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

Length of Appointment

Term of appointment: 3 years.

Residency

Strong preference for current Washington, DC residents from all 8 wards.

Paid Status

No monetary compensation; all positions are voluntary.

Description

The Board regulates the practice of funeral directors.

Commission Membership

Of the 5 members on the Board, 4 must be licensed funeral directors in the District and one must be a consumer member.

Qualifications

Individuals must have professional and life experience as a licensed funeral director in the District.

Time Commitment

The Board meets on the first Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m.; subcommittees meet as required to complete tasks.
