Houston Summary of Position

The Senior Crude Market Analyst will play a pivotal role in enhancing IET’s analytical and trading capabilities, focusing on U.S. crude and products analytics through the newly established Houston office. The Houston team will expand the company’s footprint in U.S. energy markets and contribute to IET’s goal of being recognized as a center of excellence in global energy markets for INEOS. The role reports to the Global Head of Oil Trading. Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Develop and maintain global supply & demand models, incorporating regional trends to support trading and strategic decisions. Provide regular market insights by monitoring news sources like Bloomberg and Reuters, communicating key developments to Houston and London teams. Build and enhance valuation models for futures, spreads, and derivatives, integrating fundamental and technical market factors. Utilize vessel tracking services and shipping data for flow analytics and developing models on global trade flows, fixtures, and disruptions. Collaborate with trading teams to develop strategies based on market fundamentals and technical analysis. Apply machine learning techniques to improve forecasting accuracy for oil fundamentals and economic models, leveraging advanced data analytics. Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an oil analyst, analyzing oil markets, supply/demand dynamics, and trading fundamentals. Strong analytical and programming skills (Python preferred), with ability to build and validate models and apply data science & machine learning. Deep understanding of oil market fundamentals, including global supply/demand, refining, shipping logistics, and market structures. Proficiency in building and analyzing complex models using Excel and Python. Technical expertise in Python, SQL, and handling large datasets; familiarity with machine learning algorithms is desirable. Experience with vessel tracking services like Vortexa or Kpler for flow analysis. Behavioral Skills
