Business Development Manager – Outside Sales
Business Development Manager (BDM)
will develop new customer business within their assigned sales territory. The incumbent will educate prospects on Ryder’s services using the Ryder Sales Process, develop sales plans, analyze profitability, and understand competitive influences to support account growth.
Job Summary The position requires ground travel, includes salary, a company cell phone, mileage reimbursement, and excellent monthly commission payout potential. Some travel may be required for training. We also offer a full benefits package, 401(k) employer match, and a discount on shares.
Essential Functions
Develop pre‑sales strategy and a sales activity pipeline sufficient to meet and exceed required quota revenues.
Respond proactively to leads furnished and represent the full spectrum of Ryder services.
Work with Account Representatives, Customer Decision Makers, National Sales, and other internal partners to transition accounts and increase sales opportunities.
Identify prospect needs and prepare value‑based proposals, continually improving account selling strategies.
Report sales activity to management, ensure sales protocol and SOM compliance, and develop account profile information for all prospect solicitations.
Participate in training and improvement of sales skills, industry knowledge, and personal growth.

High degree of initiative and self‑motivation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Good understanding of Ryder’s product offerings and the ability to interpret financial data.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
Five (5) years or more of consecutive sales experience with quota achievement.
Strong understanding of sales proposals and financial analysis.
Compensation Base Salary: $60,000 – $65,000 per year.
Average Commission Year One: $40,000 – $60,000.
Average Commission Year Two: $60,000 – $100,000+.
