Position Overview We’re seeking a
Community Coordinator
to lead our efforts in Hutchinson, MN. This volunteer role involves planning local social events, mentoring volunteers, representing MNeurodivergent at local festivals, and coordinating regional outreach and fundraising opportunities. You’ll be the primary point of contact for your region, work alongside other Community Coordinators statewide, and collaborate with the Events Committee and Board. This is a highly flexible, on‑site role that allows you to shape your local neurodivergent community.
Key Responsibilities
Organize and host inclusive social events for neurodivergent adults (e.g., game nights, art meetups, nature walks)
Coordinate venues, supplies, accessibility needs, and event promotion
Ensure all events are safe, welcoming, and neurodivergent‑affirming
Identify and interview new Hutchinson‑based volunteers
Share interview notes with the Volunteer Committee of the Board for approval and onboarding
Help local volunteers integrate into the team and feel supported
Lead monthly meetings with all active local volunteers
Find and coordinate local festivals or community events for table presence and promotion
Help prepare signage, fidgets, and outreach materials
Represent the organization to the public and engage potential partners
Research local grants, small business sponsorships, and in‑kind donations
Work with the statewide Development/Fundraising Work Group on applying for or launching local funding opportunities
Support fundraising at events (e.g., fidget sales or donations)
Attend monthly Events Committee Meetings (statewide Zoom calls with other coordinators)
Submit brief reports about local events, volunteer needs, outreach, and community opportunities
Communicate regularly with your Board liaison or Events Committee Chair
Qualifications
Must live in or be regularly active in Hutchinson, MN
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfortable organizing events, mentoring peers, and speaking with the public
Passionate about neurodivergent inclusion and community‑building
Event planning, volunteer coordination, or community outreach experience helpful but not required
Neurodivergent individuals strongly encouraged to apply
Commitment Details 4–8 hrs/week. Flexible schedule. Must attend monthly local volunteer meeting and statewide Events Committee call. On‑site in Hutchinson. Minimum 6‑month commitment preferred. Weekend availability for events encouraged.
