Overview Sierra Lobo offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
This is a full‑time direct‑hire position located at or near our Hoover Road facility in Milan, Ohio. Benefits begin upon start. The successful applicant will support multiple integrated project teams in the reactivation and ongoing operation of a world‑class government‑owned aerospace research and test facility.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
Determine and implement approaches to solving unique problems
Create work plans to complete tasks as specified by an Integrated Product Team lead
Assign, coordinate and provide leadership to junior members of the technician staff
Monitor technical and schedule status of assigned tasks and report as necessary using email, MS Word, MS Excel and similar tools
Discipline Areas:
Equipment Operation: Operate/supervise operation of various mechanical tools and equipment, including drill presses, band saws, grinders, and other hand and power tools
Maintenance Support: Supervise/assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety
Assembly and Fabrication: Supervise/participate in the assembly and fabrication of mechanical components, following technical drawings and specifications
Troubleshooting: Identify and report mechanical issues, supervise/assist in troubleshooting and problem‑solving under supervision
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment
Qualifications
Minimum ten (10) years of experience performing similar activities
Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience
Must be able to supervise and perform manual labor under sometimes harsh conditions
Expert‑level understanding of mechanical systems and use of appropriate tools
Excellent mathematics skills relevant to job duties
Willingness and ability to act as a technical mentor for junior technicians
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Must be United States Citizen
Preferred Experiences
Fabrication, installation and/or repair of pressure vessels and piping systems
ASME and/or AWS welding credentials
ASNT NDE Certification (any Level)
