Join WSP USA in the U.S. as an Early Career Civil Roadway Engineer. This role supports projects across Dallas, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, providing technical assistance in design, development, and construction of public and private infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Collect, compile, and analyze data from work sites, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, and subsurface utility information for project development, design, and construction.

Conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, resources, buildings, and transportation channels to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.

Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry‑level technical assistance on design requirements, operating strategies, and safety and functionality of end‑users, systems, and infrastructure.

Verify site characteristics and provide basic technical assistance on engineering, design, and construction issues.

Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field/work site logs.

Comply with safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures, including location data, statistical documentation, engineering studies, surveys, and construction.

Complete training on assigned tasks and exercise responsible, ethical decision‑making regarding company resources and conduct.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related discipline.

0–1 years of relevant post‑education experience.

Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.

Familiarity with design/build concepts and civil construction laws, codes, regulations, and compliance practices.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with engineering and non‑engineering audiences.

Self‑leadership with attention to detail, multitasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, and as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets, and engineering software.

Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.

Availability for schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek and occasional travel, as required by project specifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Engineer in Training certification.

Familiarity with discipline‑specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, geotechnical packages).

Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.

Active membership in local professional practice organizations.
