Position Summary Mobile Diesel Technician Level II – responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Technician can perform more advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a Sr Mobile Diesel Technician or higher, while continuing to learn additional advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques.

DUTIES Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning systems, and more. Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation. Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment. Independently manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliation. Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections. Work closely with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations. Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations effectively. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks. Document work according to company standards, uploading photos and parts information on Repair Orders using the proprietary TRAIT iOS application. Accurately complete DOT forms and all other required documentation in a timely fashion. Work independently and manage own daily schedule. Maintain a high level of productivity in accordance with standard repair times. Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates and purchase order numbers. Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT). Maintain the company‑issued service truck, conduct safety checks, and perform daily pre‑/post‑trip inspections.

REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess a set of hand tools necessary for job duties. Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months. Must successfully complete a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining may be accepted in lieu of a physical. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. Safe drivers required; a valid state driver’s license is mandatory, and the candidate must obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Compensation Hourly base pay rate ranges from $26.06 to $39.13 per hour, varying by location and candidate qualifications. Additional compensation may include commission, annual or monthly incentives, and other programs.
